Christmas Day, yesterday, was nice and warm, our gift from Mother Nature being in the form of a Chinook, that blew in from the left coast, and gave us some nice warm weather and melted some snow. It got to about 42 °F and today is the same.
Yesterday we had our Christmas dinner at my daughter and her husbands house, and it was grand. The turkey was done to perfection, as were all the usual sides that went with turkey. We had been there early in the morning to open the gifts, and nearly everybody was there. My daughters mother in law was there, as was my grandson, my daughter and her husband, plus me and my wife, 6 in all. Unfortunately my son could not make it, seeing as how he had to work Christmas Day. Therefore his main squeeze couldn’t be there either. They did come to our house on the Sunday prior to Christmas, did a wee bit of gift opening, and we had a small turkey dinner. It was all good, yesterday being marred only by the fact that my grandson has had a kind of flu for a few days, and he packed it in early. Plus he was getting over having the screws and plate removed from the ankle he broke last fall.
So, there you have it, we got it all together with a bit of a workaround that sometimes becomes necessary. Lot’s of good food, some drinks, some wine, a bunch of reminiscing about the good old days, and a DVD created from pictures going back to the childhood of my son in law’s mother.
We are expecting to be heading out early in January, and so we are kept busy getting the travel paperwork together, along with the always necessary pills, and all the other clutter one has to take to travel on a plane, all the while being cognizant of what the TSA will allow.
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
If you want an interesting party sometime, combine cocktails and a fresh box of crayons for everyone.
Robert Fulghum (One of my favourite writers)
Have a Great Day, and be kind to each other.
