As I sit at the computer, on Christmas Eve, there are just a zillion thoughts running around in my mind. Like how much hatred exists in the world today, how violence fills the pages of the newspaper every day, and on the TV, Like how much of Africa is dominated with tribal violence, as is south east Asia, and the mid east. The world is an unhappy place, and it does not have to be that way.

Jesus was born 2013 years ago, and we celebrate his birth tomorrow. But there are those in the world that despise us for believing this. Many of these people follow another version of what God is, and that is OK by me, I don’t hate them for what they believe, or do my best to annihilate them. Their beliefs may be just as right as mine are.

There are too many world leaders that seem to be in it only for their own personal wealth and power. No regard for the welfare of their people, at all. It’s a funny thing, I think that these leaders could actually enjoy their people and land if they devoted a fraction of their time and leadership to providing education for their people, clean water, and good medical care. The money has often been provided, but it ends up in the bank of the guy who runs the country. A sad state of affairs. This was not Jesus’s way.

So here I sit at my computer, and think of what the world could use for a gift this year. I can think of several, starting with Peace, and moving through tolerance for others, stop the killing, the rape and the violence against others. I know it is too much to wish for, on any scale, but I will still hold the wish.

Merry Christmas to one and all. May you achieve Peace in your heart in the coming year. May you also have love and good health to carry you through 2014. There is not much more you need than that!
